My blog on the
music of Hindi films released in the 1950s contained a post on a track from
Bhai-Bhai, which released in 1956.
Much later, I heard another song from the film.
It was titled Mera Naam Abdul Rehman, and was the only duet in the film.
No prizes for guessing that it was (Kisho)rendered by Lata Mangeshkar and Mr Kumar.
The Madan Mohan composition, which was penned by Rajinder Krishan, was about a pistachio and almond vendor from Afghanistan.
And it certainly wouldn’t be incorrect to state that it drove Kumar’s fans nuts.
