Although I’ve written
posts about 3,794 songs since I started blogging in 2017, I would like to state
that I am approaching Ghunghat Ke Pat Khol as my first, because that was
what it was supposed to be.
It wasn’t a Hindi film song, but a bhajan by the 16th-century saint/poetess Meera Bai, renowned for her devotion to Lord Krishna.
The film version of the track – for the want of a better phrase – was from Jogan (1950).
This outstanding Bulo C Rani composition was sung by Geeta Ghosh Roy Chowdhuri (who wasn’t Mrs Dutt then).
