I have already
written about a couple of tracks from Awaara (1951) in my blog dedicated
to the music of Hindi films released between 1950 and 1959.
When I posted them, I hadn’t heard Dum Bhar Jo Udhar Munh Phere. And when I finally did, I wasn’t surprised, because the duo who rendered it – Lata Mangeshkar and Mukesh – was dumdaar.
While the track, which was composed by Shankarsingh Raghuvanshi and Jaikishan Dayabhai Panchal wasn’t the former’s only duet in the film, it was the lone duet sung by the latter.
It was penned by Shailendra.
